Disruption to services as further Royal Mail strikes are planned

Staff members represented by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) announced 19 further days of action taking place throughout October and November 2022. The actions of the union members comes as further negotiations over pay and working conditions couldn’t be agreed.

The strikes that have already taken place have had an impact on some of our deliveries to customers already, seeing items delayed for up to a week in some circumstances due to the Royal Mail workers having to work through a backlog of mail following their periods of strikes.

When are the Royal Mail Strikes taking place?

The strikes are are going to affect the Royal Mail services differently based on what groups are striking at any time. Below we have listed the dates of the upcoming strikes that we have been informed about and what services they will affect.

Widespread action will take place on the following dates:

  • Thursday 13 October
  • Thursday 20 October
  • Tuesday 25 October
  • Monday 28 November

The following groups will be taking action on the following dates throughout November and December but the CWU has said it will have an impact on all services:

  • Processing, distribution, international, collections and admin workers:
    • Thursday 3, Wednesday 9, Tuesday 15, Thursday 24 November and Thursday 1 December
  • Delivery workers:
    • Friday 4, Thursday 10, Wednesday 16, Friday 25 November and Friday 2 December
  • Network workers:
    • Wednesday 2, Tuesday 8, Monday 14, Wednesday 23 and Wednesday 30 November

Something key to note about these strikes dates is that they will be happening during major online events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so during these times you can expect their to be major delays to all services.

Although the Royal Mail has stated that they have contingency plans in place, these are still not enough to cover the hard work and effort that their front line works put in every day.

The best advice during these times is to ensure that any items you require, especially those that are time sensitive due to special occasions, is to order well ahead of time to try and avoid any potential delays.

In the event that you require a parcel quickly but their is a strike in place, please do contact us by e-mail ([email protected]) or phone (07597 721064) to explore the possibility of using a courier service in place of Royal Mail.
